> YOGI BEAR & FRIENDS IN THE GREED MONSTER by Hi-Tec Software

Yogi Bear & Friends in the Greed Monster by Hi-Tec Software is one of their many games based on Hannah-Barbera cartoon characters. This is one of the better ones where you have to help Yogi rescue his friends that have been captured and locked away in hidden locations. You have to guide him around the large maze area and collect keys and coins in order to enter the large castle where you will ultimately confront the evil one behind it all. Graphically it's pretty good and it plays quite well. The action can get repetitive as you can only carry one key at a time which means you have to re-trace your steps several times to unlock doors. Although aimed at a younger audience, it can be tricky at times but the main difficulty is memorising the locations of the items. Once you have mastered that, it's quite simple to beat...

After freeing all his friends and collecting all the money, Yogi faces the Greed Monster...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:

  • Neil: I bumped the emulator speed up and I used an unlimited lives cheat. I whizzed around the map until all Yogi's mates were free.

  • Vinny: I hacked my way to the end by using cheats I created. You can view the cheats on my HACKS & CHEATS page.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once all the characters have been rescued you have to head to the final room where the Greed Monster is located. Once you approach him, the game is beaten. A page of text appears which reads 'WELL DONE. THE TREASURE HUNTERS HAVE BEEN SET FREE AND THE GREED MONSTER IS GONE.'

COMMENTS:

  • Neil: Just a simple page of text at the end of this one. You don't even get to battle the Greed Monster. A huge let down. 1/10.

  • Vinny: I really enjoyed playing through this game, but unfortunately it's let down by this appalling ending. Bet then again, I've checked the code and there really isn't any space for anything more :( 0.5/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: Rubbish text ending with poor grammar. And who exactly starts a sentence with 'and' after a full stop?

  • Gaz Spence: Hardly smarter than your average ending, is it?

  • Andrew Fisher: Hi-Tec made a boo-boo with this poor ending...

  • Frank Gasking: I enjoyed the first Yogi game a lot by Hi-Tec, but never really got into this one - I found it a bit boring sadly. As for the ending, it's unfortunately nothing special, but as Vinny says - there is the lack of space, so its understandable. 1/10.

FINAL SAY: Another disappointing ending. Very similar to other Hi-Tec releases.

G.E. RATING: 1 / 10
