It was ALWAYS going to be compared with Commando! No
matter what the programmers said, it was basically a
rip-off of the successful arcade hit. The thing is, it
was actually a GOOD rip-off and certainly played and
looked great and so at the end of the day, it didn't
really matter to us C64 freaks (",).
So could it be that this
game had a better game ending than Commando? ...

Here's the final level.

The Enemy H.Q.

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Erm ... well ... I used an infinite EVERYTHING cheat and
played through the last SHOT level.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Well, it's VERY similar to the Commando ending apart
from the fact that you don't get to go in and
automatically blast the shite out of the enemy - poor
show, lads. You just kill the final lot of baddies and
then the final "CONGRATULATIONS" screen appears with
flashing text (see above).
COMMENTS:
- Vinny: Hmmmm
... this ending could have done with a game ending tune
and probably a short animated sequence. As it stands, it
is VERY scarce and limited.
- Stefan:
I agree, this was a great rip-off! It sure was lacking
that excellent tune by Rob Hubbard that Commando had,
and the graphics were simpler. But the game play was a
lot better: I had Commando completed on 2nd try or so,
while Who Dares Wins was a lot harder but not unfair.
As for the ending - 3/10 for a simple animated text?
You must be counting the fact that there's a headquarter
shown at all, which is fair enough. Still, since
Commando had that animated fire plus crackling noise and
got 6/10, I would give Who Dares Wins 2 a 2/10 - it's
not half as good as that of Commando.
FINAL SAY:
It wont blow you away :(
