Vindicators by Domark is a conversion of an arcade
game by Atari. I've never played the arcade game so I
don't know how it compares. You control a tank in a
multi-directional scrolling shoot-em-up spread over 14
planets. Each planet has four zones to beat before
moving onto the next. You have to collect a key on most
of the levels to open a door at the end of it to reach
enter the next zone. The enemies are mainly other tanks
and gun turrets that fire at you on sight. The action
isn't very exciting, the control is quite sluggish and
all the levels look very similar. Graphically it looks
good and is quite smooth, but the game play is so weak
it lets down a game that could have been far better. It
took a while to beat this, but I had to keep rolling to
see it there was anything at the end of it.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I used a cheat to give me infinite lives.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
At the end of the final level you get to fight a large
creature with several eyes. Once all his eyes have been
popped with your cannon, the game is won. A text message
then appears which says 'WELL DONE COMMANDER. MISSION
COMPLETED. GAME OVER'.
- Andrew Fisher:
A very dodgy conversion, given the chance to use
cartridge format to make it better. I'm assuming the
arcade ending isn't much better.
- Brendan Phoenix:
The arcade ending is typically lame as well.
Another poor Domark/Tengen conversion.
- Gaz Spence:
I don't think Domark was particularly vindicated by
releasing this mess on cartridge, given it's a single
load tape game. What a swizz and what a miserable
- Andy Vaisey:
An atrocious conversion with an equally atrocious
