• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Vincent is a side-scrolling platform game by Double Density. There are 24 levels in total to beat. The graphics are ok and the sound is good, but the controls are very sluggish, which makes some of the levels trickier than they should be. It's similar to Hard and Heavy / Gianna sisters. Worth a look if you like that kinda thing...

The final level is complete...

on to the ending...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used an infinite lives cheat.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you reach the exit on level 24, a short message appears reading 'Press fire to enjoy a drink while the moon sets'. The end screen the loads up which shows our hero jumping in the air in front of the setting moon. Vincent holds a cocktail in his hand, while two palm trees stand either side of him. A nice victory tune plays, and on pressing the fire button the game restarts.

COMMENTS:

  • Neil: Very nice. It's a well drawn picture with some nice music. 4/10.
  • Vinny: Here's a game I had never heard of or even played, and I only really chose it because I spotted my name in the Offline Archive and wondered what on earth the game was about. TRIVIA ALERT: my mum only ever called my Vincent when she was cross with me! Anyway - Vincent is a nice looking and sounding game, but Neil mentioned, the controls are seriously annoying! They really let this game down :(

As for the ending, it's nice. Great little tune and a nice picture. 4.5/10 from me. BTW - the music throughout the game is superb! Some great SID tunes.
  • Andy Vaisey: Well, it's a pretty picture at least.
  • Andrew Fisher: Never heard of it, but a decent picture ending is always welcome.
  • Brendan Phoenix: As all the above state - nice piccy!
  • Gaz Spence: One of those typical demo group games that excelled on the graphical front but served up luke warm playability. The ending picture is very nice however - I think the graphician was part of Crazy, which actually produced one of my fave old skool demos, "That's Design". Defo check that out if you have seen it before.
  • Matt: It's not his best work but it's still a picture very well drawn by the master Gotcha. I've never really played this game though.

FINAL SAY: It's ok but lacks animation. I've seen worse.

G.E. RATING: 4 / 10
