Vigilante is a typical arcade conversion of a
side-scrolling beat-em-up by US Gold. It's the usual
story - your girlfriend Madonna has been kidnapped by
some evil skinhead gang. You have to beat the crap out
of the endless hordes of villains through five levels to
reach the end. The game is thought to be the successor
to the legendary arcade game Kung-Fu Master. I was never
a fan of Vigilante in the arcade, and the C64 version
falls far short of the mark.

Our hero reaches the
end.

The heroine is hanging
up high...

...and finally ends
up in our hero's arms.

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I used an infinite lives cheat.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
At the end of level five you get to fight the big bad
skinhead leader. After kicking the crap out of him our
hero is shown rescuing his girlfriend who is tied up and
hanging by a rope from a large advertising board. The
final shot shows our hero carrying Madonna with a
message written above him. The message reads 'WAY
TO GO DUDE!!! YOU SAVED MADONNA. LAW AND ORDER FAILED
BUT THE VIGILANTE PREVAILED'. The game then
restarts.
