Tangent is a fairly good horizontally scrolling
shoot-em-up. It is similar to Delta, and has a neat
parallax effect at the top and bottom of the screen. The
waves of enemies are well drawn and are quite a
challenge to defeat. At the end of each wave you get to
battle a large mother ship. There are a lot of levels to
battle through, which will prove quite a challenge for
the best game players out there.

Level 6 is finally
complete!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Using an infinite lives cheat and level skipper.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you have beaten the final level, you get a small
message reading 'MISSION COMPLETE', while a large
Tangent logo scrolls from side to side in the background
at the top and bottom of the screen. Very much like a
demo from a cracking group. The game then ends.
- Neil:
It's an ending, but it's instantly forgettable.

If ever ZZAP! 64 magazine got a review completely
wrong, then it was certainly for this game. For some
bizarre reason they decided that it was only worth a
measly 61%!! WHAT?! This game was and still is
SUPERB and lets not forget the fact that it was only
£2.99! I'll almost go as far to say that I prefer
playing this more than
Delta, even
though Tangent is a little more rough around the
edges. It's a blooming good game! Right?
As
for the ending... even that's better than the ending
for Delta. Okay - so it's not a brilliant ending and
it could have been so much better, but as Neil says,
it's an ending.

Re: your comment on the ending looking like it was
done by a demo group - in effect it was, since all
those involved in the game (Lizard, Demon) were on
Compunet at the time and it was getting hype because
of that fact.
It's a reasonable game, would have given it in the
low 70s myself (particularly as there are only 6
levels). The ending is OK, a bit more than a static
message but not outstanding.

Brendan Phoenix:
Never heard of this game, but for a cheapo title it
certainly looks ok. May have to give it a bash.
Just a really bog standard ending though. It's like
an ending by numbers, which sadly a lot of C64 and
especially the cheapo titles suffer from.

Andy Vaisey:
Missed this in the past. I think ZZAP! scored it
about right given the number of levels and original
price. If this had been £1.99 instead of £2.99, I
think it could have been worth high 70's low 80's.
The ending betrays it's 'scene' origins. It's ok
though for the price.
