TALES OF BOON
by X-ample Architectures
|
• Completed
& Reviewed by Neil Collins
Tales of Boon is a Hawkeye clone. The graphics and
sound are pretty good, but the game play is very
frustrating and difficult. I played this for a short
amount of time before I had to cheat. It's not as good
as Hawkeye, but worth a look if you liked Hawkeye and
want an even harder challenge.

Level 6 is finally
complete!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Using a cheat that allowed me to skip to the end.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
At the end of the game you get to see a cool little
picture of the city. A congratulations message is shown
at the bottom, with a few lines of text saying that your
trials are completed and that you are now approved. The
fate of your family now lies in your hands. The game
then ends.
COMMENTS:
- Neil: Not as
good as the ending to Hawkeye. 3/10.
- Vinny:
I'd never really heard of this game until Neil
sent in the ending, and so I thought I would check
it out. After playing through a few times and dying
within seconds, it's obvious that this is a poor
man's Hawkeye. Don't get me wrong; it's a good game,
but it's lacking in the game play department.
As for the ending... I actually like it. Okay - so
it's not amazing, but it looks good and the music is
nice too. 4/10.
- Matt Rogers:
Never heard of it either, but that is a lovely
piccy. Nicely done.
- Gaz Spence:
A typical X-Ample game with flashy graphics,
tremendous sound, but slightly iffy gameplay. The
ending piccy is pretty cool with some interesting
shading employed and a Euro-bop tune - albeit a
shame it wasn't a cover of 'Hi Ho Silver' :D
Michael Elphick RIP.
- Andy Vaisey:
Never heard of this, but have taken a quick
look; yes, very Hawkeye-ish with the same fun
initially, but limited gameplay. Nice shading on the
GFX though!
Lovely looking ending screen, spoiled by a congrats
type message and average Bayliss-esque boppy choon.
- Andrew Fisher:
Nice picture, OK music, not a lot happening.
Must check out the game now - I've not heard of it
either!
- Stefan Guerilla:
Nice: The picture looks pretty good, a brief
ending text plus a decent tune. I think I would have
been satisfied would I have completed the game.
That's 4.5 for me!
- Brendan Phoenix:
Ok ending piccy and some ok music as well,
nothing brilliantm but better than most of the
rubbish we see. As guerilla said, I too would be
happy if I was presented with this ending.
FINAL SAY: A nice little picture, but that's
about it.
