In my honest opinion, CP Verlag seems to be one of those software houses that peeked far too late in the life of the commercial Commodore 64. They could have made a mountain of money had they appeared a few years earlier and swept the board with it's cracking catalogue of games.

Now I'm not sure I can praise this game in the same way as it appears to be marred by it's multi-loading and slow in-game controls: think of Ninja by Mastertronic Entertainment USA, but with better graphics and more loading! I played the disk version on a real Commodore 64 and so it got a little frustrating having to wait for a screen to load each time! The main character is a little chunky and slow too. All in all a let down for me, but is the ending any good...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Cheated all the way to the end using a trained version of the game.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have completed the final task, the ending screen appears, which shows a Ninja holding two swords and the ending message reads: "CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE QUEST FOR THE SWORD OF HONOUR."

COMMENTS:

  • Bren: Standard pic - bit of a congratulations, but tune is the same as the title sequence. Poor. 2/10.
  • Vinny: What I don't understand is that 'The Sword of Honour' looks like the Ninja's normal sword! It could have at least looked more like a Sword of Honour as opposed to a standard sword ;-) A nice picture, but a real let down with the same standard title tune. 2.5/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: I reviewed this for Commodore Format, but only saw the end by cheating... It is a slight disappointment, but I do still like the game (and my 3.5" version of it).
  • Brendan Phoenix: Looking back, it is a bit of a disappointment this ending.
  • Andy Vaisey: Lack of memory or lazy? Either way, a missed opportunity.
  • Romppainen: I'd bet my money for laziness, Amiga version's ending seems to be just the same.

FINAL SAY: A let down :(
