I was a big fan of Spy vs. Spy when they appeared in
the old MAD comics back in the 70's; crazy antics from
both black and white spies left me in fits of laughter.
So when I heard that a Commodore 64 game depicting the
antics of my favourite MAD characters was being
released, I was a little chuffed to say the least!
Okay, so it isn't a
particularly hard game to complete, but the ending is
worth another look ...

White Spy finally makes
it to the exit ...

... and makes dash for
his aeroplane.

Before he gets in he
decides to have a quick laugh at the Black Spy ...

... and then hops into
his aeroplane ...

... making a smooth
take-off through the game play panel!! The End!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
A few words from David Craddock: "For once I didn't
need to cheat as the first skill level is very easy. It
literally took me just over 2 minutes to complete (and
I'm sure it can be done much quicker !). I have
previously completed the harder levels and the ending is
exactly the same so I went for the easy option :)"
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once your spy has gathered all the
required items, he is able to exit though the airport
door (see 1st screen shot above). He then makes a run
for it towards his aeroplane but stops for a second to
let out a snigger or two.
He enters the aeroplane
and then takes off out of the game play panel - nice
little touch.
COMMENTS: I was very impressed by this ending when I
first saw it 22 years ago! It tickled my fancy and gave
off the right vibes. Admittedly, it isn't going to
impress everyone and probably could have done with a
game ending tune, but I was satisfied.
