The Simpsons arcade game by Konami is a Double Dragon rip off, with Simpson characters. It's far better than Double Dragon though - although it still isn't very good. On the positive side, it's big with detailed levels and characters, but unfortunately they are badly drawn and it's very glitchy. Controlling the main character is easy, but sometimes unresponsive which makes fighting the bad guys annoying and frustrating. It's a good attempt at cramming so much in on the C64, but I would have preferred less content with more quality. It's quite a challenge to beat the game as there are lots of long levels with tough enemies. It's a good attempt at a conversion of the arcade game, but it's not going to blow you away. It's worth checking out if this is your kind of game.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used an infinite lives cheat.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: At the end of the final level I had to fight a robot, which was Mr. Burns in a metal suit. Once I had beaten the crap out of him for a long time, the suit exploded to reveal the frail old fella. I smacked him about a bit and then the game ended. The end sequence shows Maggie sticking a dummy in Mr. Burn's mouth, and then there's a shot of the re-united Simpson family with a multicoloured background. Finally there is a scene where the Simpsons are seen walking off down the road while the game credits roll overhead and the Simpsons theme tune plays.

FINAL SAY: A very good ending with nice graphics, sound and animation. Check this one out dudes!
