The conversion of Shinobi was very faithful to the
arcade original and certainly one of the best conversions for
any 8-bit system. Who can forget the shuriken throwing
Joe Musashi saving children kidnapped by the Evil Foo.
So with such a great conversion under their belts, did
the programmers have the time to produce a top-notch
ending? ...

On reducing the BOSS POW to zero, the final bad guy
flies in
the air and into the ground.

A bottom to top scrolling message says, ” Nakahama is
discovered to be
the behind the scene ninja who taught Joe ninjitsu the
ninjas art of making
one self invisable“. Note the wrong spellings of
‘invisible’ :)

The scrolling message continues, “Obsessed with the idea
of recreating the feudal
era of civil wars where ninja traditionally played a
very active role Nakahama
has set up a terrorist organization. The End”.

The scrolling message continues showing the credits
...

... and more credits
...

... and some more credits! (yawn!).

“PLAYER 1 GAME OVER” starts flashing on screen and after
a few seconds the
game is loaded back to the main screen. The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?
I’ll be honest: even though I have completed this game many, many times
before, it seemed more time efficient to use a crack by Mr.Fox with a level skipper! :)
(Web Master: you cheat!)
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you kill the final boss, he flies in the air and
onto the ground while the camera focuses on his death. There
is no music or sound effect in this ending. Screen is
changed to a bottom to top scroller telling us some
stuff, which didn't make any sense whatsoever. Something
about a bad guy bringing ninjas back! Heck! I am all for
it :) Following this, the game credits start scrolling.
In the end a “PLAYER 1 GAME OVER” starts flashing on
screen and after a few seconds the game is loaded back
to the main screen.
COMMENTS:
It is an average ending to a fine arcade conversion. To
be sincere and if I recall correctly, the arcade version
had the same ending with an added music track and a
background of ninja eyes staring. The text is the same
too. So it was understandable for the programmers to not
change it much.
(Web Master: It could have done with a better explanation
along with some great game ending sonix.)
FINAL SAY:
The ending is true to the arcade version,
which wasn't flashy either.
