> SERGEANT SEYMOUR - ROBOTCOP by Codemasters

• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Sergeant Seymour - Robotcop is a puzzle game released by Codemasters way back in 1992.

The aim of the game is to control a robot cop and arrest all the villains within the one-screen maze, before reaching the head villain and putting him behind bars.

It's bright, colourful, cute and fun to play but the action is very repetitive. This isn't my kind of game, but I'm sure it was popular back in the day.

The final level is complete!

Time for some recognition...

...I wonder what he'll get...

...hmmm... could be good...

...should be a bloody BIG bonus...

WTF! The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:

  • Neil: Using a level skip cheat.

  • Vinny: I cheated! I froze the game with my Action Replay Cartridge, entered MONITOR mode, and typed G A91C (dirty jumps to location $A91C where the ending sits). I've also created a 25 feature crazy hack for the game, which you can download from the link in the above left-hand column.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: On completing the last level, a picture of the robot cop is shown with the words 'ALL ZONES CLEARED' written above in large flashing writing. Some text at the bottom appears thanking you for your work and Seymour receives a commendation from the commissioner. The game then starts over.

COMMENTS:

  • Neil: Not a bad ending! I didn't expect this from a puzzle game. 4/10.

  • Vinny: I quite enjoyed playing this. In fact - I still like to play it now and again.

Like Neil, I too was surprised by the ending. Also 4/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: I actually prefer the two Seymour arcade games to the Dizzy-style adventures - Super Seymour Saves The Planet is one of my favourite budget titles of all time, and once you get the hang of it Robotcop is fun for a quick blast.

Pleasantly surprised to see a nice ending. It's a fair cop.
  • Andy Vaisey: Hated all these 'character' games from the Codies. Seymour is down there with Dizzy in my books. Good that it has an ending, albeit limited.

FINAL SAY: The ending was a shock. It's not too bad.

G.E. RATING: 4 / 10
