Scuba Kidz from Silverbird Software was coded by Andrew Betts. Does his name ring a bell? It should do for any of you budget game seekers out there because he is the talent behind I,Ball and I'Ball II - both great games! So with those two great games under his belt, you'd expect another budget game masterpiece...

Well not quite... Scuba Kidz is a refreshing budget title that has swimming though various underwater caverns in search of your friends - or in this case, Kidz. It's a very colourful and playable game, but there's something a little quirky about it that stops it from being a smash hit. It's still fun to play, but I think the majority of you will find it frustrating and annoying... which is why I created the Crazy Hack version ;-)

So are we to expect something great from Mr Betts when it comes to the game ending, or is it going to be one of his typical 'text based' endings...

The final level...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:  I created a crazy hack for this game that has 29 extra in-game features; one of them being the game ending. You can download the crazy hack from the link area above.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have completed the final level, you get an ending message, which reads: "YOU HAVE RESCUED ALL THE CAPTURED KIDZ AND SET THEM FREE FOR A NEW GAME. SEE YOU IN THE COWBOY KIDZ."

  • Vinny: Drat and double drat! I was expecting a nice, colourful ending, but it appears that Andrew Betts was giving us his usual text based ending :( 1/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: Not a bad game really, but I couldn't get on with it for some reason. My fault. No excusing the rubbish ending though.

    Thanks for the hack Vinny.
  • Andrew Fisher: Didn't know it was by the guy who did I, Ball - the ZZAP!64 review (with its dodgy screenshot) put me off playing it.

That ending sinks without a trace.
  • Gaz Spence: Using a Z instead of S to pluralise something is a pet hate. Not a bad game saying that but shame about the wet ending.

FINAL SAY: Nice game, but poor ending :(
