The first time I had ever heard of this game or seen it was the day before putting this game ending page together. I received a Tweet from Ex-C64 coder, Mike Berry, who asked if I could help him see the ending to this oldie. Within a few minutes playing Quari I was totally confused as I wasn't too sure what to do. Was the aim of the game simply to reach the far side of the screen? It appears so...

After spending a few minutes hacking the game, I got myself onto the final level (with infinite lives) and guessed the rest...

The final level...

Get yourself up to the cage...

...but make sure the dino is directly under it...

GOTCH!

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I hacked the game by finding out the level count location, switching the game to the final level and then just completing it with extra lives (which I didn't need because it was easy).

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you reach the cage, it drops down to the bottom of the screen, and if the dinosaur is directly underneath, then you've captured him and out hero jumps for joy.

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: It's 1984... what else did you expect? It's exactly what I thought it was going to be: lacklustre and poor.
  • Andrew Fisher: It's a clone of an arcade game, but right now I can't remember what it was called. Still, interesting to know what happens at the end.
  • Gaz Spence: Apparently the arcade is Bongo, interestingly also made by Jetsoft. Not too sure why the name was changed for the C64 port.
  • Brendan Phoenix: Why run away from the monster - he is bloody well the same size as it!

FINAL SAY: # Dooo, doooo, doooo, do-do... 19-84 #

G.E. RATING: 1.5 / 10
