Here's a superb arcade game that appeared in the 2014 RGCD 16KB Cartridge Competition... and what an entry it was! Even though it's a simple game in design, it's fun to play and very addictive, with 60 screens to challenge any die-hard gamer. The graphics are crisp, clean and beautiful to look at, but still manage to main an air of simplicity. And to finish it off, the different tunes running through from the title screen to the game ending fit the game perfectly. A great game for any Commodore 64 collector.

Now I wonder if they had any space left for a game ending...

The final screen...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I actually played through using the cool Hokuto Force trained version of the game... but you know me... I also hacked the game ending by freezing the game with my Action Replay Cart, entering MONITOR, and typing G 244E (or $1F79 if you're using the .PRG version), which starts the ending at location $244E.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you ride off the final screen, the game ending screen appears with you and another skater, along with the words: "HELLO! NICE TO MEET YOU." This is accompanied by an ending tune.

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: Let's get this into perspective... this is a 16KB and so did we really expect a game ending? I know I didn't... BUT, there is one! And for that, it deserves an extra point. This is a cute ending with a cracking ending tune to boot. 6/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: Short and sweet. But amazing there is an ending given the memory constraints. Thumbs up!
  • Andrew Fisher: I love the style of this game - reminds me of the sort of Flash game that gets bookmarked in your browser and played often. Cramming two different game modes into 16K was impressive, getting a nice ending in there is RADICAL!
  • Brendan Phoenix: Agreed - given the limitations this is a great little ending. If only everyone tried as much to do the same.

FINAL SAY: A quality 16KB game that managed to pack in an ending!

G.E. RATING: 6 / 10
