Ollie's Follies was originally released by in 1984 by
Access Software, but I wasn't to play it until it was
release two years later by Americana Software - a budget
Produced by Frank Cohen -
who also produced Beer Belly Bert,
The Scrolls of Abadon,
Chaser, Ollie's Follies takes on a similar 'Cohen'
single screen platformer - which I quite like and enjoy
playing. The game isn't anything fancy, but it has it's
own style and is certainly a challenge...
Phew! The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I played with the code and generated my own level skip (JMP
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you have completed level 24, the ending kicks in
with a message saying "CONGRATULATIONS! You have
conquered Ollie's Follies!" The main character is
also shown on the screen holding his crutch!
- Andy Vaisey:
Not played this but seems very similar to Bounty Bob
Overall, not a bad game but sod playing through all that
only to receive a congratulations message.
- Andrew Fisher:
I quite like the graphic style of Frank Cohen's games,
but none of them really grabbed me. This one feels like
several other American imports of the time and does not
stand out - and neither does the ending.
FINAL SAY: A surprise that it has an ending,
but not surprised that it's cack!
