This one's a beauty! Ninja Spirit is a game I'd
long forgotten about, until today when I stumbled across
it again over twenty years later. It's an excellent
conversion of an arcade game, where you control a
character called Tsukikage - the spirit of a white wolf,
in the form of a ninja. Your mission is to defeat the
last warlock who is wreaking havoc in your homeland and
is after your soul. You have to battle through four
levels to finally face the evil warlock and put an end
to his terror. If you're fan of games such as Shinobi and
Rygar - then you'll love this one. It scored 90% in Zapp 64, and it's more than deserved.

The final boss has
been defeated.

Our hero's quest
comes to an end.

And he changes into a
dog!

Huh!

"here, Shep"

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Using an infinite lives cheat.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
At the end of level four you finally face the warlock.
After smacking him about a bit, he finally explodes. The screen flashes and our hero drops to his
knees before transforming into the form of a white wolf.
You then get to watch a nicely animated ending where the
wolf runs across the screen with other wolves against a
colourful backdrop. The screen clears and the conclusion
of the story scrolls up the screen in cinematic fashion.
The land is saved, the demon killed... but for how long?
COMMENTS:
- Neil:
Top game this, with a good ending. This is what the C64
is all about.
- Vinny: Nice
ending. I love the bit where the dogs run across the
screen. Try watching it in an emulator with the
speed at 500% :)
- Syncrow76:
Terribly difficult, sometimes even unfair game. This
is one of the few games I consider impossible
without unlimited lives. Great music, great Graphics
(especially the big sprite explosions).
FINAL SAY:
I
really enjoyed playing this one - and the ending was the
icing on the cake.
