Necromancer by Synapse is one of the strangest games
on the C64...
a druid, and your task is to defeat the evil
Necromancer. There are three levels to beat, each
equally bizarre. Level one has you planting and
protecting trees from the oncoming evil hordes of evil
creatures; on level two you have to control your druid
and your walking trees around a series of vaults,
avoiding spiders and other enemies; and finally, level
three is the battle with the Necromancer. You have to
destroy all the gravestones on the screen which will
lead to his downfall. It's all a bit surreal, but it's
an original and interesting title. I can't see the game
having a long lasting appeal for many gamers, but there
are a lot of fans of this game out there.
FLASH! Aaaah-ahhh. The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Using an infinite lives cheat.
- Vinny: I hacked
the ending by freezing the game with my Action Replay
Cart, entering MONITOR, and typing G 4242, which starts
the ending at location $4242.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you have destroyed all the gravestones on the final
level a few times (I think you need to complete five
waves), the Necromancer dies. There's a high pitched
squeal from the SID chip and the screen flashes random
colours before the game restarts.
