I lost patience with this game a long time ago. It's so difficult to control that it had me very annoyed after only a few minutes of playing...

Motocross coded by the late John Ferrari for Codemasters is a Motorbike game (really!) that plays in two different ways: the first being a side-scrolling game where you have to reach the end of the course by guiding your bike up and down hills while leaping over various obstacles; and the second is a similar type of game but this time it's viewed from above, so the angle and control method changes. The graphics are large and colourful as you would expect from Codemasters, and the sound is pretty good too. I found it very hard to get into, but you can get the hang of it eventually - but it takes serious practice to keep your rider from eating dirt.

The final track is complete...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a cheat that allowed me to start on the last level.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: If you manage to stay on your bike until the end of the last course, the game is beaten. A large message appears which reads 'WELL DONE YOUNG MAN. ALL LEVELS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. A REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT'.

  • Neil: Another ending that fails miserably. It's hard work to beat this game and there's very little reward at the end of it. 2/10.
  • Vinny: I'm with Neil on this one... this game is a tough one to play, but then again, so was The Human Race also by John Ferrari!

As for the ending... it's definitely NOT one of his best. Static text, and not even a Matt Gray ending tune. 1/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: Never played this game. Just gave it a quick blast now and agree with other comments that it's rather frustratingly difficult. Bit of a rubbish ending too.

    [Harry Enfield]Ooh... young man![/Harry Enfield]
  • Andrew Fisher: The graphics are big and colourful but the handling/control is terrible. I prefer it to ATV Simulator though.

The ending is poor, though I do like that expanded font John used.

FINAL SAY: Where's my trophy!? Where's the champagne!? Where's the half naked ladies!?

G.E. RATING: 1.5 / 10
