Gremlin Graphics always seemed to create strange characters for their games: Thing on a Spring, Bounder, Monty Mole, and the bird-like creature in Metabolis. It's a very weird idea and a very strange, but fun, game. ZZAP64 magazine didn't seem to like Metabolis and only scored it a measly 50 percent. One does wonder if they actually played it more than a minute!

The game fades away...

...and the ending begins.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Brendan found the solution in CRASH magazine - no hints available in any 64 mags.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the game is completed, the screen fades away, and the following ending message appears: "MEGA AMAZINGLY HYPERACTIVELY FANTASMAGORCALLY BRILLIANT EUPHORICALLY SUCCEEDING IN THE EXTRAORDINARY MEGA METABOLIS. WELL DONE. FINISH TIME: ##/##/##." This screen then fades out and the following message appears: "IN RECORD TIME YOU'VE WON THE GAME. ALL PREVIOUS TIMES NOW LOOK TAME. HAVE ANOTHER GAME AND MAKE YOUR TOP TIME A TAME TIME TODAY!"

COMMENTS:

Brendan: Great game this. Start off as a little bird and you need to find the cure to become a man - game not over then - you then have to blow up the nuclear plant and escape within a time limt. This game was on the reverse side of Bounder but could never get far. Ending so so - lots of superlatives and then another page with a short rhyme asking you to see if you can beat the best time.
Vinny: I haven't played this game in years! I remember having it on the flip-side of Bounder, which was one of my all-time faves. Anyway, the game is fun to play, but I am glad I never completed it to see the ending! What a pile of poo. Plenty of words, but no action whatsoever :(
