• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Not a bad little game this. Similar style to Ikari Warriors / Commando – but with multi-directional scrolling. Eight levels of blasting enemies, blowing up buildings and destroying end of level bosses. The aim is to rescue the former president from terrorists...

Your mission is complete...

Time to go home.

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: There are a few versions of this game with bugs in them. The main bug is on the last level, which loads corrupt graphics and makes it impossible to destroy the enemy plane. I eventually found a crack with infinite lives and a working last level.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: You shoot the final plane to pieces and it explodes. You then get a message reading ‘THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WAS RESCUED BY THE MERCS, BUT NO OFFICIAL RECORDING WILL BE MADE’. You then post your high score on the high score table and the game goes back to the start. Very poor.

  • Neil: Rubbish. I at least expected to meet the president or get a medal. That’s the last time I put my life on the line for an American politician. 1/10.
  • Vinny: It's an OK-ish game, but it does get a little frustrating with the scrolling of the screen. It's just not quick enough for me. Nice graphics and sound though ;-)

As for the ending... I'm not going to waste my time: 1/10.
  • Andrew Fisher: Very average game, very average conversion, terrible ending...
  • Brendan Phoenix: Same text as the arcade ending but we don't get to see the President rescued or any scrolling credits. Poor.

FINAL SAY: Terrible ending to a decent action game.

G.E. RATING: 1 / 10
