Law of the West is a game I played a lot as a kid, and I completed it many times...

You play the role of a sheriff who has to converse with various people of the town, in order to uphold the law. Your responses dictate the peoples actions - with your aim being to avoid as much conflict as possible. If you make it to sunset, you have completed the game. There are many characters in the game, including your deputy, bank robbers, the doctor and gamblers. Some will listen to your instructions, while others will only go down with a fight, so you need to be quick on the draw.

The End!

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Using my memory (what's left of it), and a lot of trial & error answering.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: When you reach sunset, you get a screen which totals up your score. It shows other totals too, in the form of icons - which include: How many people you killed, put in jail, how well you did romantically and how much money you recovered. The game then restarts when you press fire.

  • Neil: I remember being very happy when I completed this years ago. To be honest though, the end isn't that great.
  • Vinny: I was always intrigued with this game - not that I've ever played it. I would always see the adverts for it in C&VG magazine and think how cool the game looks, but I never made a point of checking it out. But reading Neil's description of the game, it doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

As for the ending... I don't think any of us expected anything more than what we got. But then again - maybe a cool picture or animation wouldn't have gone a miss! 1.5/10 from me.

FINAL SAY: There's nothing to get too excited about. Boring.

G.E. RATING: 2 / 10
