For those of you outside the UK, Jocky Wilson is one of the best known darts players from the nineteen eighties. He wasn't the greatest darts player that ever lived, but he certainly was a great character who enjoyed many a drink or two!

Jocky Wilson's Darts Challenge is a great little darts game by Zeppelin. In this game you need to throw your darts extremely well to beat Jocky - who seems to be uncharacteristically amazing at it! The graphics are fairly simple, and the game play is pretty good once you get into it. After a few games you will get the hang of it and start throwing quite well, but you will need to be consistent to beat the tough computer opponents. It's quite similar to 180 by Mastertronic, so fans of that game will certainly like this one too.

The last dart is thrown...

...the scores are counted...

...and you are the winner! The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I saved my game a few hundred times.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once Jocky is beaten you get to see a large picture of a gold trophy with your name on it. It's very well drawn and covers most of the screen. The word 'CONGRATULATIONS is also shown below the trophy.

  • Neil: A very nice picture at the end of this, but it needed more bells and whistles if you ask me. It's not amazing, but it's good enough for this budget game. 3/10.
  • Vinny: Even though I own the original to this game, I always get my darts fix from Mastertronic's 180, which in my eyes is the best darts game for the Commodore 64.

With regards to the ending, I think it's great - especially for this type of game. A nice touch with the sparkle appearing on the trophy. 4/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: Personally I prefer Wacky Darts (for the fun opponents) and Bully's Sporting Darts (for the variety of games). But Jocky's is alright, a fairly typical Zeppelin take on the sport. Trophy screen is OK.
  • Brendan Phoenix: Can't beat the wobbly / drunk hand throwing dart games!

I agree, 180 is excellent - man the speech back then. I was soooo impressed.

Actually, the end here is ok, nice pic of a trophy and from memory, more than we got from 180.
  • Andy Vaisey: I'm in the 180 camp for darting on the C64 too.

The ending here is decent enough for a dart game!

FINAL SAY: Not bad at all. I earned that trophy. I threw some amazing darts.

G.E. RATING: 3.5 / 10
