Here's an old platform game I stumbled upon, which is by Kingsoft. I'm not completely sure of its premise, but you appear to be controlling a (VERY) slow walking caveman who has to collect two items (B and C) before hitching a ride with a bird waiting at the top of the screen. Your caveman can only jump up and down to platforms that are above or below him, which has to be done whilst avoiding the many nasties climbing around the screen.

The game looks and sounds okay, but it's a little marred by the dragging movement of the main character - as if he's wading through treacle!

Unfortunately the game hasn't aged well, but it's still worth a play or two...

The final stage is complete!

# Come fly with me...

...let's fly...

...let's fly...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I initially loaded this up to create a crazy hack, but I also wanted to check if it had an ending, and so I created an invincibility cheat (POKE 8431,96) and played through the 4 stages. It only took about a minute before I got to the ending...

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Between each stage, you see your hero and the bird flying off the level and then appearing on the next. But at the end of Stage 4, you see our hero flying off into the distance. The game then restarts.

  • Vinny: I was surprised to see it had an ending. There isn't much acknowledgement that you've completed the game, but it's certainly visible by the animated visuals. 5/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: A simple but fun animation to end the game with - looks like the bird is supposed to be the legendary Phoenix.
  • Brendan Phoenix:  Missed opportunity - just a few words / epilogue could have raised this one higher.

Sounds and looks like an old-skool arcade game (no bad thing).

FINAL SAY: Halcyon it aint, but at least it's an ending!

G.E. RATING: 5 / 10
