This little Codemasters platform game isn't too bad. I used to enjoy playing this as a kid, but never completed it. I’d get pretty far, but as with most C64 games – you had to be very good to complete it without cheating.

The aim of the game is to rescue your friend from the haunted mansion, which is done by collecting the various flashing objects that unlock different lifts / platforms – giving you further access to the rooms within the mansion. It houses very simple, Spectrum-esque graphics and bog-standard platform game play...

The final room houses the exit... phew!

"Going down..."

"Made it!"

"Yaaaaaaay" :-)

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used an infinite lives cheat.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have collected the final flashing object at the top of the mansion, you are told to make your way to the exit. Once you have made your way back to the start, you see the words ‘EXIT’. The game ends once you touch the exit and you get a 'CONGRATULATIONS' message on the screen. You are then sent to the high-score table, where you can type in swear words to show your frustration at this poor ending.

  • Neil: Nice little game for the money, but the end was a big let down. 2/10.
  • Vinny: This game is obviously a poor Spectrum port that really shouldn't have been released. What really strikes me about this game is that it too TWO people to code it!!

    None of us expected a good ending and so it's good to see that the consistency of a cack game followed through to the end. 2/10 from me too.
  • Andrew Fisher: There's an interesting game idea in there, but it's poorly put together. Who ya gonna call? Someone who can make a better ending.
  • Brendan Phoenix: Codemasters giving us another awful ending. They just keep giving! How kind!
  • Gaz Spence: Deathly dull tripe of the highest order and with a ghoulish ending - I really hate these moribund Spectrum conversions.

FINAL SAY: Crap. I didn’t expect much from this budget game :-(
