Fungus II by Players software is a huge improvement
on the original. This time out it's a 3D action game -
with multiple screens, unlike the awful side-scrolling
first game. Fungus II is actually quite playable. The
graphics are very neat and the control method is fairly
responsive. There are only four levels to beat, so it's
not impossible - unlike the Fungus I. You have to wander
the 3D landscapes, collecting items and avoiding the
aliens. You need to jump accurately to avoid falling
down the gaps or off the edges of the playing area. This
game is a vast improvement on the original.
Note from Web Master: this game wasn't actually
published and released by Players Software and only saw
light of day due to the fine efforts of the
Games That Weren't web site (Frank Gasking) who did
some detective work and finally had the game released -
for free!

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I used a cheat that allowed me to skip levels.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you have beaten level four, your bonus is
calculated before the end sequence appears. Some
brightly coloured mushrooms bounce around the screen
while a tune plays and a message is shown in the centre.
The message reads 'EXCELLENT!!!
YOU COMPLETED THE FOURTH AND FINAL LEVEL. THIS WAS ALL
THAT FUNGUS II COULD OFFER, BUT FEEL FREE TO PLAY IT
AGAIN!'. The game then
restarts when you press the fire button.
FINAL SAY: Better than the original in every
way. It's not an amazing end, but I'll settle for it.
Don't bother playing the original game.
