Oh my god! Has anyone seen the overall game rating
for Freak Factory that was awarded by ZZAP 64 magazine?
Twenty-eight percent! What on earth were they thinking?
I know the game doesn't look or sound too great, but
it's still fun to play and worth a few more points.
Anyway,
this ending was requested by Brendan Phoenix, who has
been struggling for some time to complete it. I actually
completed this game back in 1986 and remember that there
is an ending; but instead of playing through the game, I
decided to do my best to hack it (steady on)...

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Here's an explanation as to how I
hacked the ending: I searched the memory for the ending
message text and then searched the code that initiates
the message ($CC10). I had to change a few values and
also moves some data to a new location.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Our hero is shown outside the factory with shades up and
a smile on his face. The mad professor and his strange
alien apprentices are now locked behind bars. The
professor has a speech bubble with a scrolling message
that reads: "CONGRATULATIONS. AT LAST I ADMIT DEFEAT.
BUT YOU WILL NEVER KEEP ME BEHIND BARS. SOON I WILL BE
FREE AND THEN..."
COMMENTS:
I was actually pleased to see that this game had and
ending, and it was nice to see it again. Like the game,
it isn't going to win any awards, but it sits well
within the game. It could have done with a different
piece of music.
FINAL SAY:
Give is a look and then put it to one side for another
20 odd years ;)
