Here's an oldie arcade conversion programmed by Mike
Wacker for Mogul back in 1983. It appears that Mike
produced a lot of the Mogul arcade games, which gets me
into thinking that maybe Mike WAS Mogul games... if you
know what I mean. He also produced the quirky Kong
- which I still love playing today. Okay - so his games
aren't state of the art - even for 1983 - but they are
fun and enjoyable to play...
In Fire Ant you play the
part of a... you've guessed it... Fire Ant. As the last
remaining soldier of an army of ants crushed by a group
of scorpions, your sole purpose in life is to rescue the
queen ant taken hostage. There are eight chambers that
have to be conquered before the queen is saved. There
are some quirky little puzzles to solve to progress
through each level, and these aren't always obvious.
All in all it's a pleasant
little game and one that I enjoyed crazy hacking :)
Chamber 8 is beaten
and the queen is rescued.
The screen flashes
through a series of colours...
...with a sound
signifying that you have accomplished your mission.
The queen then leaves
...and starts to
reveal the ending message: "CONGRATULATIONS!".
OH SHIT! A SCORPION!
Too late. The End!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I ripped this one to pieces and created a crazy hack,
which you can download from
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once Chamber 8 is beaten, you finally get to
rescue the queen ant. The screen flashes through a
series of colours with a sound signifying that you have
accomplished your mission. The queen then leaves her
prison and starts to reveal the ending message:
"CONGRATULATIONS!", whilst a victory tune is
played. All of a sudden, a scorpion appears
and kidnaps the queen yet again. The game restarts.
