> EPSILON IV by Loadstar

• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Someone give me a good hard slap across the face. I just completed Epsilon IV after hours of gameplay! I thought the aim was to collect all the flashing items (just like in Jet Set Willy), but it seems that all I had to do was find the teleporter. What a waste of four hours...

Apart from all that, Epsilon IV is a great platform game. The sprites and backgrounds are well drawn, the control method is pretty good and the difficulty is set correctly. It's very playable, and now that I know what you have to do - completion without cheats is quite possible.

QUICK! The teleporter!

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Using an invincibility cheat.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: After hours of wandering, I found the teleporter. I walked past it many times as I thought it was just a part of the background. Once you enter it and press fire, your little robot dissolves through the teleporter. A screen then pops up saying 'CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE COMPLETED EPSILON 4'. Once you press the fire button the game returns to the main title page and the game is over.

  • Neil: Another decent little game ruined by a poor ending. I will not be returning to Epsilon IV. 1/10.
  • Vinny: I've never played this game, but it looks like my kind of thing... apart from the poor ending. 2/10 from me as it also has a small ending ditty.
  • Andy Vaisey: Text ending alert... POOR, POOR, POO...
  • Andrew Fisher: ...we find a fun little game from Loadstar let down by a very average ending.

FINAL SAY: What a shame. The end is bloody terrible.
