Here's a game that we originally had on our WANTED list, but for some reason it disappeared. Fortunately, a discussion started about it on the Lemon Forum and the outcome was a positive one thanks to the efforts of Marek Pyszczynski.

For those of you who don't know, Elidon is a cute platform adventure game that has you controlling a fairy and scouring the large game map in search of potions and flowers. With its easy controls, beautiful graphics and adequate sound, Elidon certainly made a good impression on the Commodore 64 gaming world back in 1985. Let's see if the ending makes a lasting impression...

The main character is almost there...

The final screen.

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Marek used a trainer version of the game and cheated to the end :-)

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have collected the flowers and returned to the final room, the main character spins and drops down, and the ending message is displayed, which reads: "MY TASK IS COMPLETE AND WINTER HAS LEFT ELIDON. 99% OF ROOMS VISITED. SCORE #####. COMPLETION CODE: ##########. WATCH OUT FOR TUJAD."

  • Marek: Just go down to see the rather-lame-ending. There seems to be a bug in this game; either because of me taking snapshots from time to time (it can cause problems sometimes...), or maybe because of playing with the trainer option on. Whatever the reason - only one flower is needed here to complete the game. Normally, you would need to find all the unfolded flowers and water them with the right potion.
  • Vinny: Hmmmm... if I was totally honest, this was exactly the kind of ending I was expecting. A few extra points for the attempt of an animation sequence. All in all 3/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: Well done to Marek for his hard work in completing this. It's a game I had (on a compilation) and never got very far with. Yes, it is slightly disappointing to have so little happen... But there is also the hint of a sequel, wonder what happened to that?
  • Brendan Phoenix: Like you say Vinny, no shock with what the ending had in store, but it's one off the list of games we never thought we would see the ending to. That has to be applauded.
  • Gaz Spence: One of those games that probably has a better reputation than it should. The hi-res graphics a nicely detailed but the gameplay has dated badly with imho.

FINAL SAY: Kind of expected it :(

G.E. RATING: 3 / 10
