Now here's a game that didn't quite hit the mark for me. There's something missing that leaves this short of being a top-notch shooter, and I just can't work it out. The graphics and sound seem fine, so maybe it's something to do with the game play. Yes - that's it: the game play seems a little slow - as if the screen isn't scrolling fast enough for the movement of the sprite. Hmmm... anyway, it's still a good game to play and looks as if it would have a cool ending...

"FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a cracked version by HOTLINE that allowed me to skip straight to the ending. Sweet :)

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: You are presented with a colourful shot of a sunset with a funnel of smoke rising up from the forest below. A scrolling message appears and reads: "THE AGE FOR DRAGONS WAS OVER.. AS A RESULT OF THE FIGHT BETWEEN THE LAST DRAGON "BAHAMOOT" AND THE YOUNG KING "KAYUS", THE KING OF THE OLD, "ZAMBAQUOS" VANISHED AGAIN INTO THE ETERNAL DARKNESS. WITNESSING THIS BATTLE, "ANIMAS", KING OF WHITE LIGHT, LIFTED "BAHAMOOT" TO THE HEAVENS TO MAKE HIM A STAR. "ANIMAS" THEN SEVERED EVERY CONNECTION BETWEEN THE HEAVENS AND MEN TO MAKE THIS EARTH BELONG TO MANKIND ALONE. "KAYUS", WHO WAS LATER CALLED "THE LAST DRAGON KING", RULED THIS WORLD FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS, AND THEN DIED. AT THAT MOMENT, AS THE LEGEND GOES, ASHINING DRAGON APPEARED FROM SOMEWHERE TO CARRY HIS REMAINS UP TO THE HEAVENS. THUS BEGAN THE AGE FOR MEN."

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: When the ending first fired up, I thought "Now here's a cool ending". But then nothing really happened apart from a scrolling message! Where's the music? Where's the animation and sprites? Where's the ending? I am so disappointed with this ending as I expected so much more. Where the hell is the Martin Walker ending tune?!! :( A poor show.

  • Kungfufurby: There's one big disappointment here. No sound :(

  • Brendan Phoenix: That's strange that there is no sound - bad crack or it should be like that? Bit pants if it should be like that. The ending is pretty much exactly like the arcade original so cannot be too harsh.

  • Andy Vaisey: Didn't like the game and even Martin Walker's usual solid music seems a bit lacking. With a nothing special ending, this all adds up to something stunningly less than average. I'm being polite.

FINAL SAY: My expectations were high and so I expected much more from this ending.

G.E. RATING: 4 / 10
