• Completed & Reviewed by Vinny Mainolfi

I've always been a big Zeppelin Games fan, and it's titles like Draconus that secures my love for this superior budget software label...

With quality graphics, sound and gameplay, this game could almost be mistaken for a fully priced title, and could put many of the poorly produced full priced titles to shame. As I am sure you've gathered, I like this game a lot :-)

The End!

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I hacked this one using the following technique:

  • Load the game and freeze it using an Action Replay Cart

  • Press 'M' for MONITOR

  • Type: G 3C06 (this uses the GO command and goes to mem location: $3C06, where the ending is situated).

  • The ending will start.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the game has been completed, the ending screen appears with the message: "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE DEFEATED THE TYRANT BEAST AND RECLAIMED YOUR THRONE AND KINGDOM." This is accompanied by an image of our hero sitting in his thrown and the ending tune playing in the background.

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: Even though I hacked this ending, I have played through to the end in the past and I remember being satisfied with what I saw. It looks cool, animates nicely, but what does let this down is the bumbling ending tune. Yes - it's a tune written specifically for the ending, but it seems to struggle along and create an air of greatness.

  • Brendan Phoenix: I like it - better than what I had expected to be honest - ok little pic of you sitting on the throne gives it a worthwhile ending.

  • Andrew Fisher: OK, but not exciting. Still prefer Zybex of the early Zeppelin games, but this one is pretty good.

  • Gaz Spence: The early Zeppelin games for the most part were cracking VFM as budget games and Draconus is no exception. The ending is a little disappointing, however.

FINAL SAY: Nice - but nothing more.

G.E. RATING: 5 / 10
