• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Devastating Blow is a terrible boxing game by Beyond Belief. The aim is to work your way through the opponents to become number one and win the JBO title.

The graphics and animation are very poor, you have only four boxing moves at your disposal, and the gameplay is incredibly slow.

I couldn't find any positive points about this sports game, so I recommend you stay clear of it. It's quite painful to play (no pun intended).

Believe it or not, but this guy is laying down!

Looks like he's standing up and claiming victory!

Ah! Text...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a cheat that stopped my fighter from losing power.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the number one boxer is knocked out, you become the champion. A message appears to congratulate you and confirms that you are now the number one fighter. A final screen of text then appears which reads 'Congratulations Slugger. You are now the JBO champion'. Pressing the space bar ends the game.

  • Neil: As expected really. A very poor ending. 2/10.
  • Vinny: Considering it was produced in 1992, this is a seriously bad boxing game. You could forgive it a little if it was released in 1983-84! I'd stick to Barry McGuigan's and Fank Bruno's Boxing.

As for the ending... what else would you expect! 1/10 from me.
  • Andrew Fisher: A very lightweight ending to a game that was never a contender...
  • Andy Vaisey: Why does the boxer led on the mat look like he has a vagina on his back?
  • Gaz Spence: The quality banter here more than makes up for the devastatingly bad game and ending.

FINAL SAY: A fitting ending to a terrible game. Avoid it. It's total crap.

G.E. RATING: 1.5 / 10
