WOW! What a seriously cool game - and from the same team who brought us the superb Turrican III.

It never ceases to amaze me that after all these years there are still great Commodore 64 games out there that I have never seen or played. And the silly thing is - this game has always been in my Gamebase 64 database, and sitting there on my machine waiting to be played. It wasn't until Brendan (Phoenix) sent in the ending that I actually bothered loading up the game and having a play...

Cor - nice picture.

KA-BOOOOOOOM!

"This is Mission Control. We have a problem..."

Roll the credits...

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Both Brendan and I used a cracked version of the game that had a cool trainer (",)

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the final level is complete, we get to see our hero escape and then a shot of the space station, which starts to explode! This is followed by movie-style rolling credits and the ending tune.

COMMENTS:

  • Brendan: Animated, nice tune and scrolling end game credits - 5/10

  • Vinny: I love the game and I also love the ending. This really is a polished product from beginning to end. I think it should get at least 7/10. It would have definitely received a 10/10 (Gold Medal) if it had a little more animation, graphics, epilogue and proper closing credits.

  • Frank Gasking: I remember Crush, I think it came out in 1998 and there was a demo by Smash Designs called Triage that used the title picture. It's a neat little Katakis clone, and the ending is a pretty much straight template re-use of the Katakis/Turrican/Turrican 2 and Enforcer endings :-)

  • Gaz Spence: A good scene attempt at a Katakis sequel and a short but good animated sequence and a decent tune means that the ending is above average.

  • Andrew Fisher: Good game, good ending... 7/10.

  • Brendan Phoenix: I think my original 5/10 is a little harsh looking back, worth bumping up to a 6/10.

FINAL SAY: Almost polished, but lacking...

G.E. RATING: 7 / 10
