Without a
doubt, Creatures 2 is one of the most spectacularly
polished releases ever to grace the C64 - thanks to the
awesome Rowland brothers. The game was released towards
the end of the C64's commercial life and had to
compete hard against the big up and coming
consoles; but being the ultimate survivor that it is,
the C64 held its own with the able assistance of titles
such as this.
So with such a fantastic
game, was there room for a fantastic ending?...

Great start - a
'congratulations' screen.

Here he is; Clyde
Radcliffe.

Good ol' boy.

OH! He's seen
something!

QUICK, CLYDE!
RUUUUUUUUUUN!

What's he stopping for?

Now he's running!

AH-HA (",)

The boys are back in
town.

GOTCHA!

There' my mate, Andy
Roberts (",)

"KILL KILL KILL KILL
..."
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Knowing Vinny (the lazy git), he probably used the
level-skip option because he doesn't know his 'arse
from his elbow' and when it comes to playing games...
Isn't that right Vinny? :-) Hehe ... Only kidding, but
he's still a cheater!.. ;-) ("You
bloody bet I am! I am the ULTIMATE C64 cheat!!" -
Vinny)
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once the last torture screen has been completed, the
game starts a loading sequence ... which can only mean
that we are in for a treat!
Sure enough, after a
'Congratulations' message, you are greeted with a nice
beach setting, where Clyde walks onto the screen and
thanks you for saving his family (<sarcasm>). Well, you
have worked hard after all playing the game properly!!
</sarcasm>). BUT little does Clyde's know that there's
one big Green baddie he forgot about! With no weapons,
Clyde shoots off with the Green monster in hot pursuit.
But our green friend soon
has a sudden change of a direction, when Clyde races
back with a chainsaw in hand. At this point, the credits
begin to display, whilst flicking back to an animated
scene. In the next scene, the green monster continues to
run, but is confronted by Clyde's family stopping him in
his tracks. With Clyde closing in, there's no escape.
After another credit display, Clyde's family pin down
the monster, and Clyde proceeds to say a final
"farewell" to his foe before slicing him up and
spilling/spraying blood everywhere. The End!... Nice! :)
All of this is accompanied
by some great music again by Steve Rowlands.
COMMENTS: What can
I say?... Extra effort has gone into this ending, and
you are rewarded with something rather special. There is
everything to look forward to when completing this game.
You could always ask for more, but really this is a
fantastic way to end a game on the ranking of Creatures
2.
FINAL SAY:
Satisfyingly gory and a satisfying "completion" feeling.
