Codemasters - I love you. Well at least I used to
back in the glorious days of the Commodore 64. They
produced some really great budget titles, and CJ
elephant was one of them. Originally appearing in CJ
Elephant Antics (see the ending
here), out
intrepid hero then makes a dash for the States to take
on good old Uncle Sam. So with the original game ending
only receiving a score of 5/10, does CJ in the USA rise
to the challenge?

Final screen just
before the end sequence.

Collect the map and
the game is completed!

Congratulations! Is
that it?!

No it isn't. Check
this out :)

"come on buddies!"

"BLAST OFF!"

There they all go.

Into the skies.

GONE!

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Well, seeing that Inge is a great hacker, I think he
cheated on this one and played through with infinite
lives and bombs :) Which actually, is still a great
challenge and fun too.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once CJ has floored the Dreaded Hunter, he is presented
with a map that needs to be collected to start off the
end sequence.
The end sequence starts
with a 'congratulations' screen (see 3rd screenshot
above), which I thought was the end! An ending
tune plays away in the background, and then the screen
changes to reveal a space shuttle being boarded by CJ
and all his buddies. The ship starts to tremble and then
takes off. The final message reads: "UNTIL NEXT
TIME....."
COMMENTS:
Web Master:
What can I say? I am truly amazed that this game has
such a great ending, which is full of animation, story line and
some nice ending sonix. It really is a delight to watch
and certainly gives the game player a feeling of
satisfaction.
Brendan Phoenix:
Surprised -
great ending for a budget game and Codemasters do
not have a great track record for fantastic endings.
Nice little ditty and nice animation of the little
elephants jumping into the shuttle 8/10 seems a good
enough score for me.
Inge Pedersen:
I only used infinite lives on this one. At some
points, it was hard to play (me being no l33t
gamer), so the ending was indeed very satisfying.
Maybe I think it nearer to a 7 than an 8, but that's
just some minor details.
Andrew Fisher:
The ending was setting up the next game in the
series, CJ In Space. Unfortunately it was never
finished. The CJ "engine" was then used to make DJ
Puff's Volcanic Capers and Stuntman Seymour.
Retrovertigo:
Definitely surprising, loved the first game and
really sorry I never played the second now. :)
Matt Rogers:
Cute little game and a decent ending! I was
seriously fair-weather by '91, so missed all these
games...shame.
Frank Gasking:
Excellent ending - now wondering if CJ In Space
actually ever got started!
FINAL SAY: A shock! Well worth the score :)
