• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

Oh dear me. Cavemania. What a steaming pile-of-poo this game is... I'd never played this one before (thank God), and never will again.

Cavemania is a stone age platform game where you have to collect eggs on the nine different islands to complete the game. The graphics, control method, sprite and background detection are terrible. I painfully battled through it though...

The final level is complete.

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:

  • Neil: Using an infinite lives cheat.

  • Vinny: I produced a crazy hack for this game that adds various new features, and one of them includes jumping straight to the game ending :) You can download the crazy hack from www.hackersoft.co.uk.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: At the end of each level is a bonus round where you can collect stone wheels. After the ninth island is the final bonus round. Once you have completed this and exit via the right of the screen, you are shown a simple congratulations message and are told to 'Have Fun!'. The game then restarts.

COMMENTS:

  • Neil: A very basic ending. Avoid this one lads - it's complete crap. 2/10.

  • Vinny: I've never actually played the game even though I own an original on tape. I always thought it looked like a fun game to play, but it appears that Neil doesn't agree. I may have to check it out...

As for the ending... it's pretty nondescript. I'm wondering if the ending tune is unique to the game? I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and also give it 2/10.
  • Gaz Spence: A Stone Age platformer in more than one sense. The ending is classic budget material I'm afraid.
  • Andrew Fisher: Atlantis sent very few of their titles to the magazines for reviews, so I was always wary of picking them up. And probably for the best. A poor ending on the end of a poor budget game.

FINAL SAY: Bad game. Bad ending.

G.E. RATING: 2 / 10
