You've got to LOVE this game; it is a classy piece of gaming that encompasses the best of shoot-em-ups and platform games. It's one of those games that I just can't seem to put down even though it frustrates me like mad - the infinite lives cheat helps a little.

After seeing 'The Making of' article in Retro Gamer issue 35, I thought it was time to unearth the game ending to this little gem and show all you C64 Gaming Freaks just what does lie beneath the deepest darkest depths ...

You finally reach the finishing post with only the Mad Pumpkin to defeat.

A quick HOP, STEP & JUMP and the game is complete. The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED? I used a cracked version by REMEMBER, which gave me all the keys, infinite lives and infinite energy. All I had to do then was go to the first door (green), enter the room, follow the Mad Pumpkin to the final screen, jump on his head and finally, collect the broomstick.

SO WHAT HAPPENS? Once you have collected the broomstick, the screen switches to a 'WELL DONE' message and the final words, "THOU HAST COMPLETED CAULDRON WITH A SCORE OR #######. THE PUMPKIN IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE PUMPKIN".

Accompanying this end screen is a short ending ditty.

COMMENTS:

• Vinny: Hmmm ... I kind of expected a little more from this game, seeing that the rest of it is a quality piece of programming. A screen saying 'well done' isn't really inspiring. I suppose it completes the game and has a game ending tune, so that's something to be grateful of. Maybe a short animated sequence would have been better (",)
