> BUGS BUNNY - PRIVATE EYE by Hi-Tec Software (unreleased)

• Completed & Reviewed by Neil Collins

What's up Doc? Well, this time it's Bugs Bunny - Private Eye, which was released ("oh no it wasn't. Check out GTW64" - Vinny) well after my C64 bit the dust and I had moved onto the Amiga. It's not a bad little action/platform game.

Your mission is to help Bugs find evidence to convict the cartoon villains of their crimes. There are only a few levels to complete, with a sub-game in between each, but it's quite a challenge.

The graphics are very good, with neat sprites and backgrounds - as you would expect for a PAL Developments game.

The final level is complete.

Taz has been caught!

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Using an infinite lives cheat.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: On completing the final level, you have gathered enough evidence to convict the final villain - the Tazmanian devil (Taz). You get a 'WELL DONE' message confirming this before a neat black and white picture of the villain is shown. Finally you get another 'WELL DONE' for restoring law and order to Loonyville. The game then jumps to the high score table before the game restarts.

  • Neil: It's ok. The end of the final level is the same as the other levels, apart from the villains picture changing and the final well done message. 4/10.
  • Vinny: As I mentioned above, this game was never release and only really saw light of day because of the efforts of my good friend, Frank Gasking. Check out the full story HERE on his GTW64 site.

With regards to the game... it has a typical PAL Developments look and feel to it, which I quite like. It's fun to play and would have made a nice budget release.

As for the ending... as Neil said, "It's ok". A nice little ending, but nothing to blow you away. 4/10 from me too.
  • Andrew Fisher: Was glad that Games That Weren't discovered this missing game - for a budget price it would have been worth it, with such an iconic character.

A reasonable ending to a fun little game.
  • Andy Vaisey: Ending is a bit like the game - not great but, satisfyingly, slightly better than average.
  • Brendan Phoenix: 'That's all folks......nothing to see here. Move on.'

FINAL SAY: Th..th..th..that's all folks!

G.E. RATING: 4 / 10
