Strange one this... when I first played this game by
Richard Bayliss, I wasn't at all impressed with the game
play. Then, I decided to play through to obtain the
ending, but I found the game far too hard. So, being the
total cheat that I am, I used my Action Replay Cartridge
to turn off the sprite collision, and I speeded up the
game a little using an emulator. The thing is, the game
played so much better and was so much more fun! I could
now run through the walls but I still had to dodge the
aliens. RESULT! So after faffing around and playing
through all 16 level, I got to the ending screen to find
that the hi-res picture had corrupted. Was it because I
had been playing around with the code? A quick email to
Richard Bayliss confirmed that the original game file
that he supplied on the Net wasn't displaying the end
screen correctly, and he kindly corrected the fault and
sent in the ending. Another result!

Level 16 is the final
level.

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I used my Action Replay Cartridge to kill the sprite
collision, and then I speeded up the game play using an
emulator. By the way, jumping to location $3D48 (or SYS
15688 after a soft reset) also
starts the end sequence!
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you've completed level 16, the standard hi-res
picture appears with the final message that reads: "WOWEE!
YOU HAVE FINALLY MADE IT THROUGH TO THE END OF THIS
GAME. SMUDGE WAKES UP AND FINDS THAT HE HAS FINALLY
ESCAPED HIS NIGHTMARE. NOW HE FEELS MUCH HAPPIER ONCE
MORE!"
A scroller at the foot of
the screen reads: "CONGRATULATIONS ... SMUDGE HAS
FINALLY GOT THROUGH THE 16 ARENAS AND HE NOW FINDS
HIMSELF AWAKE IN HIS BED ... HE FEELS RELIEVED THAT HIS
NIGHTMARE IS FINALLY OVER AND HE GETS HIS BIG DAY OVER
AND DONE WITH ... WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR PLAYING
BOMB CHASE - 2009 SPECIAL EDITION AND WE DO HOPE THAT
YOU HAVE ENJOYED PLAYING THIS GAME ... TEXT RESTARTS
..." All this is accompanied by a Richard Bayliss
ending tune.
