Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is a very poor C64
game. It is based on the film of the same name, which is
a classic comedy. The game follows the same plot as the
film - Bill & Ted need to pass their history exam,
otherwise they will be separated and unable to continue
their band, The Wyld Stallyns', who's music saves the
world in the future. You have to travel through time and
gather up the famous historical figures, which you need
in order to achieve an A+ for your presentation. Your
time is limited so you need to be quick. The puzzles are
very simple to solve, and the graphics are some of the
worst I've seen on the C64. There's some sampled speech
in the game which is ok, but the controls and graphics
make this game really awful. It could have been far
better if they had only spent a bit more time on the
graphics and made the puzzles a bit trickier.

Geez! He looks
seriously mean!!

Party on. The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Using many saved games and vague bits of info I found on
the internet.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
Once you have convinced all of the historical figures to
travel with you back to the San Dimas mall, you are
ready for your presentation. All of them are introduced
on stage one by one and if all are present, you get an
A+ on your report and the game is won. A picture of your
teacher is shown as he gives you the top grade. A
picture then pops up of the Wild Stallyns playing their
music before the game ends. Party on dudes !

That's a weird graphical mode! Almost PETSCII but I'm
not sure. Excellent... NOT!
- Andy Vaisey:
A bogus, heinous, most non-triumphant ending... er,
dude...
- Andrew Fisher:
It was only about 4-5 years after it was released that I
even knew this game existed. I'm a fan of the films, but
the game is a bit too simplistic. For me the graphics
are reasonable and have obviously been converted/edited
from another format to fit onto the C64. So-so ending
that could have done with a bit more polish.
Be most excellent to each other.
- Brendan Phoenix:
Had the basis of a good game here as well. Yet another
missed opportunity. The ending (like the game) could
have done with a little more polish. A pity.
FINAL SAY:
Apart from the graphics, the ending is ok. There's a bit
of animation, but no sound. It just looks so awful. A
big let down. Bogus..
