Ball-blasta by Zeppelin games is a good Arkanoid/Breakout clone. It plays well and the graphics are pretty good. It's one of the better breakout games on the C64, so check it out. It has all the usual breakout game features and more. It's quite tough, so beating the game is a difficult task. Luckily, I found a trained version...

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a trained version that allowed me to skip levels.

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the final level is beaten, the C64 resets back to the C64 basic screen! But... then the screen goes all fuzzy before a text message appears, which says: "SOMETHING WONDERFUL HAS HAPPENED. YOUR C64 IS ALIVE! ONLY JOKING!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING BALL-BLASTA...."

COMMENTS:

  • Neil: Very unexpected! Nice to see a different ending for a change. 5/10.
     
  • Vinny: WTF? It certainly is an unexpected ending, but it's cack! I'm not a great programmer by any means, but I could rustle up something like this in about 5 mins! What a pile of pool. Where's the graphics; where's the music; where's the blooming ending?! I actually want to give this 1/10, but I am happy to compromise and give it 2/10 ;)
     
  • Andrew Fisher: A bit of fun, but not a brilliant ending... reminds me of the Ash & Dave intros.
     
  • Andy Vaisey: Ha-ha... Pass the needle and cotton. My sides are splitting :-I
     
  • Brendan Phoenix: Yes it's a rubbish ending, but at least it's a different rubbish ending. Was getting sick and tired of the same old congratulations screen on numerous titles - makes a welcome change!

FINAL SAY: It's not amazing, but it's a bit different. Nice to see some originality ("I disagree" - Vinny).
