This game was originally produced by Daisysoft, but in their infinite wisdom, Byte-Back decided to release the game but with the addition of the word 'SIMULATOR' - because as we all know, it makes a game far more superior!!

Steer your car around the course and try to beat the clock. Pull handbrake turns and Jturns. Use forward and reverse gears, and position your car with pinpoint accuracy as you attempt to qualify for the next round... well that's what it says on the tape inlay! When I first saw this game I thought it was a driving test simulator, but it's actually one of those driving assault courses that has you spinning the car in all directions and then handbrake turning into a tight parking spot. It reminds me of Red Max, Last V8, Kikstart, and Micro Machines all rolled in to one - but with frustrating controls!

It looks like, it plays okay and it's worth a go or two; but is the ending any cop...

Nice colour Mini!

The End.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:

  • Gaz: I suspect that Gaz cheated because he's like that :-D
  • Vinny: I hacked the game ending with:
    • LDA #$18
    • JMP $19DF

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you've completed the final course, an ending message appears, which reads: "CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE COMPLETED AUTOTEST. ENTER AND SAVE YOUR NAME."

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: Ah poo... it was never going to be anything more than a simple text message :( It could have been SO MUCH MORE! 1/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: Well, that ending failed it's driving test...
  • Gaz Spence: It took me a while to find a version of the game that was 100% but given the ending I perhaps shouldn't have bothered.
  • Andrew Fisher: Cool, never heard of this one - but then Byte Back were hardly the most prolific label (with only Cosmic Pirate being a noteworthy release). If I'd been driving in my car, I'd be unhappy when I got that far to discover a terrible ending.

FINAL SAY: Definitely FAILED this test!
