Thalamus really knew how
to produce quality Commodore 64 software; they were the
kings of the halcyon days. Armalyte is one of the top
titles and delivers in every single way: game play,
sound and graphics. It really was cool to been seen
playing this game :)
To be TOTALLY honest, I cheated
to see the ending! That's right, I
used a "jump straight to the end sequence" cheat in a
cracked version of this SUPERB game (don't worry, I also
have the original!). So after spending all of
10 seconds to reach the game ending, what does it look
and sound like? ...

Here's the first screen. Very impressive (",)

Nice.

Great!

Fab!

And finally, THE END.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED? I know I should have tried
to play all the way through without cheating, but I
just couldn't bring myself to do it :)
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: The ending consists of a super
epilogue, some cool graphics and an ending tune by
Martin Walker. Check out the screen shots above to get
an idea of the actual ending. Better still, why not
download the ending and see it for yourself!
COMMENTS:
-
Vinny:
It is a
cool looking and sounding game ending that well deserves
a high mark. The end
screens are crisp and clean, and the music it top notch
- well done Martin.
- Andrew Fisher:
Great ending at the end of a great game...
personally I would rate it 9/10, if the screens had
been animated then it would have been worthy of a
10.
- Matthew Rogers:
Back in the day I would have said 10/10 Gold Medal
me-up!! But, as Merman says, a series of static
(albeit fantastic little) piccies isn't enough. The
music being played is the high-score table tune,
iirc, too - maybe if that had been original...
9/10's about right.
- Brendan
Phoenix: I think it is a class ending. Great
static screenshots, good epilogue and a thumping
tune. Lack of animation does not really bother me
when the standard of the shots and music is so high.
rather that than a poor piece of music and some
poorly drawn animation. Thalamus have a great Gold
Medal winning track record of C64 endings - I think
this is another.
- Andy Vaisey:
Two words: ROBIN LEVY! You know my feelings about
that... 10/10
FINAL SAY:
Well worth completing ...
