> ANTICS: The birds and Bees II by Bug Byte

• Completed & Reviewed by Vinny Mainolfi

My good friend and C64 partner in crime, Frank Gasking, was kind enough to send me a clean .TAP version of this game that he recently archived for Gamebase 64. In my mind I had never seen the game before and thought it to be a rare Commodore 64 game... that was until two weeks later when I went through my own collection of original Commodore 64 tapes and found that I owned the game too!

It's a basic little maze come platform game that involves you controlling a bee who needs to find another bee and guide him back to the hive. Basic graphics, basic sound, basic game structure... you get the idea ;) All in all it's a game that would have been better placed when the Commodore 64 was release three years earlier. As for the ending...

The two pals head back to the hive...

THE END.

HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I actually hacked this one to death and stumbled upon the game ending when creating a screen skip cheat (download the POKES from HERE).

SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have located Boris Bee and guided him back to the hive, the ending message appears, which reads: "IM OK UR OK 24 U HAVE RESCUED ME".

COMMENTS:

  • Vinny: Not a particularly great game - even back in 1985 - and the ending is very disappointing. Not much else to say apart from... 0.5/10 from me.
  • Andy Vaisey: What a load of rubbish.

Best bit for me is the Bug Byte Bug on the title screen. Says it all.
  • Andrew Fisher: Hardly exciting antics, more depressing final text screen...
  • Brendan Phoenix: This one should buzz off.

FINAL SAY: Insert your own bee pun here.

G.E. RATING: 0.5 / 10
