The Edge - the producers of the infamous C64
adventure 'Quo Vadis', followed it up with Almazz, which
promised over 1700 screens of C64 adventure. This
sounded like my kind of game, so I eagerly loaded it up
and started to explore. Unfortunately, the game is an
absolute stinker. It may well have tons of screens to
explore, but every other single aspect of the game is
appalling. The graphics are terrible, the animation
awful, dodgy sound, glitches and bugs everywhere and the
game play is almost non-existent. The game is based in
Africa, where you have to fight lions and angry natives
while keeping your temperature cool enough to stay alive
so that you can explore the vast wilderness. The overall
aim of the game I believe is to find the Almazz diamond
and work out it's true name. I can't imagine anyone
playing this game long enough to complete it, so I
decided to try and cheat my way to success.

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
I poked the code to stop enemies attacking, give myself
infinite water, bullets and all pieces of the map. I was
still unable to beat the game so I looked in the code
and found an ending message. With some super pokes from
our good friend Pugsy (Martin Pugh), I was able to
activate the game ending. Great work!
SO WHAT HAPPENS?:
The ending shows a paragraph of text below the playing
area. The text reads 'YOU CAN PASS THIS POINT IF YOU
CAN SAY THE NAME OF THAT WHICH YOU CARRY. 530303. IF YOU
THINK YOU KNOW THE TRUE NAME OF THE DIAMOND, SEND IT TO:
THE EDGE, 31 MAIDEN LANE, LONDON. WC2E 8LH'.
